Any route you choose will have you pedaling, then slogging... sometimes more slogging than pedaling. We often think that conditions will be totally firm, only to find out that we're walking more than riding. I will be up on the Mesa all weekend this weekend, pedaling and slogging... and camping. I'll likely be on the S&P (Sunlight to Powderhorn snowmobile route). I do know of a loop you can do and can send you a GPX file if you'd like. With the snow last week, it will be deep -- but with the sunshine that is happening today and through the rest of the week AND WEEKEND (WOOHOO!!), conditions "should" be "firm". Email me at jenyjo at gmail dot com and I can send you what I have.JenyJohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07943039342748969440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3943627808770318379.post-48994622516464798812017-01-24T11:00:59.986-07:002017-01-24T11:00:59.986-07:00That...was amazingly descriptive and clear, coach....That...was amazingly descriptive and clear, coach. Your posts on tire pressures inspired me to get a low pressure gauge and I need to get brave and really let some/a lot more air out when things get soft and deep! Any recommendations for a nice long route on the Grand Mesa that would be more riding than pushing? (I know conditions can change and that makes the recommendations difficult...I was pondering the Lake of the Woods area but wasn't sure if there were other areas with potential for lengthier routes- I have done a lot of rides on DS Road past Turkey Flats to just beyond the Enoch turn-off and that has been a huge workout! I would like to make my way to Turkey Flats, but like I said I need to get brave with letting a lot more air out- I weigh 176lbs without gear, etc and 5psi is as low as i have gone in the rear tire (I am running tubes).

Thanks again for the great posts and the invaluable advice that can only come with experience! Too many of them stop functioning at a hint of a cool breeze.Barry Cnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3943627808770318379.post-35694584081657118582017-01-23T14:00:16.966-07:002017-01-23T14:00:16.966-07:00Yes.
